Its remind me of the Apprentice series, Book Smart Vs. Street Smart. Its better to be both but in reality Book Smart will play safe and street smart berani to take any risk since perkara jatuh dan tergolek is their asam garam, not a big deal and practically they knew what they are juggling and to one extent jatuh dan tergolek been minimize. Book Smart yang I rase banyak jadi gila bila dah terjatuh dan tergolek( my humble opinion)...may be. Bila dah get used dengan keadaan yang sentiasa selamat dan once jatuh kkdg belum tentu boleh bangun. I salute those in the Street smart group....

How abt En Irwan sendiri? which group are u belong?

irwandahnil : tatau nak kategorikan di mana.. on and off always be at the different street at a different time.. Working on to put some books on the street :)

Apa nak buat daa... Out of the dozens of companies MAVCAP invested in, seems like ZERO is in the Internet field. CRADLE pun lebih kurang, almost zero.

Macam mana la Internet nak prosper kat Malaysia. Simply not enough or almost NO risk-taking VCs! Ada pun takat Vincent Tan yang sendiri tak berapa paham tentang Internet. One of my associates who won CRADLE, ended up bungkus and siap court-convicted lepas terpaksa cari makan jual pirated DVDs over the net.

DAGS bwh NITC pula punya la byk funded Internet companies sampai RM100 juta banyaknya, tapi hampir kesemua ~40 projek terkandas termasuklah NITC sendiri (nama domain sendiri pun tak renew macam projek-projek kerajaan tersebut). BTW, MDEC pun "terlupa" nak renew one of its most popular domain (hint: ada kaitan dengan "technopreneur").

First, I'm continuously impressed with your graphics skills, Irwan!

Second, NEVER say you are not seeking funding to representatives of a financing company. They'll get PISSED OFF! The result, they'll give you the among the lowest scores possible in their evaluation. (I expected that)

Also, NEVER pretend that you know who your audience is. (This big mistake also happened when I went for a negotiation with a large organization -- I've learned my lessons now!). Study enough about them, but pretend you don't know much about them, and only focus about your own self. And never pretend you know more about anything than any of your audience -- they'll like you better.

Say, how about a Book, eh Street, eh Book la, eh Street kot Smart??

Take me for example: 5A in Darjah 5. Among the best in primary school and menengah rendah. Then got to a special school. I flopped, and only got modest result, but still, enough to have rewarded me with immediate overseas study. Then, off to one of the best engineering school in the world. But I flopped there again. I almost failed, but I managed to get a degree after lengthy extensions. I almost swear never to go to school again.

But seven years later, I'm back in school and this time aced out every classes. Then I fumbled again. Some of my lecturers didn't like me well, so, I got penalized severely. Now I'm not sure.... I just hope to make it, and on my own again.

Am I a book or street smart? (I made it into the Mensa circle btw, so, I know I'm smart, somewhere, somehow...) Maybe I'm just both, but too rebellious for my own good.

irwandahnil : why dont we call it as both street & book smart then ? :)
